Welcome.
Parks Pass Statement from the Town of Washington
We would like to thank everyone who has supported the Washington Island Parks through purchasing a Parks Pass. The excitement and generosity our community has shown supporting our precious parks has been overwhelming. However, we now realize that we must clarify that purchasing a pass is not required or mandatory at this time. The Parks Pass program is still a work in progress and has not yet been formally established by the Town of Washington. We ask for your patience and understanding while we resolve some of the very important details and questions that have been raised in the last week or so, and we would like to invite anyone who has any questions, comments, or suggestions to please reach out and email us at townoffice@washingtonisland-wi.gov. Please follow this page and refer to our social media accounts for the most updated information.
Moving forward, we would like to encourage the community to continue to purchase the passes at the suggested donation amounts, and Annual Pass Pins will still be distributed as they become available. Passes may be purchased online, and collection boxes will be installed at each park location. The funds that are raised will help offset the cost of maintaining the parks, including providing services such as trash removal, cleaning facilities and beaches, purchasing equipment and supporting preservation. We have so many wonderful projects planned to improve our parks, and together we know we can make Washington Island Parks a better place for all.

Welcome to Washington Island, Wisconsin.
The Town of Washington Island is a small, year round Island community located approximately 5 miles off the northeast tip of the Door Peninsula in Door County, Wisconsin. The Island is approximately 35 square miles, has over 100 miles of paved roads and over ten Town parks.
The only way to reach Washington Island is via boat - car or passenger ferries transport visitors daily. Visitors should plan their trip by checking the current ferry schedules and deciding on their mode of transportation. The island is too big to see by walking, so consider bringing your car or bicycle. Visitors can also rent bikes, mopeds, UTVs or Jeeps on the island.
Parks Pass
Plan ahead and buy your Parks Pass BEFORE you visit the parks.
Washington Island offers beautiful parks featuring unique beaches, breath taking lookouts and scenic trails. In 2022, The Town of Washington approved a Parks Pass as a type of user fee to help offset the cost of maintaining the parks. The Parks Pass fees will help provide services such as trash removal, cleaning facilities and beaches, purchasing equipment and supporting preservation. NOTE: This is the first year of our Parks Pass program and just a starting point. We appreciate feedback and ideas! We'll be gathering feedback throughout our year and hope to make enhancements to the program in the future.
